Dear Editor, This letter is in response to the article in the February 12th edition of the Johnson City Record Courier (JCRC) titled “JCISD Unvaccinated Students Cause for Concern”, by Charles McClure. There is significant misleading information in this article, and as a result, I feel compelled to help concerned people in our community to make better, more informed decisions related to vaccination.

I just want to give my appreciation and heartfelt thanks to everyone and anyone who had anything to do with making Johnson City look so spectacular during the Christmas season. It really does “take a village” to get it to work. From the businesses that join in by lighting up their places, to the people who untangle yards and yards of lights, who decorate the courthouse, the park, the people who welcome the visitors, the people and clubs who offer good food and ware to sell to the public, an ...

Dear Editor The headlines last week in the Courier, “Joe Summy questions necessity of new stadium”, needs some clarification. My comments and intent at the JCISD board meeting were to challenge the JCISD School Board to make it clear to the public what the new multi-million dollar sports stadium is going to be used for besides five high school football games a year. I understand and assume the stadium will to be used more, but I don’t really know...nor do I believe most of the people in ...

Dear Editor, Like many faithful readers, I always enjoy your “year in review” special section. Reminds us of where we’ve been as a community, while inspiring us to move forward into the New Year with gratitude and hope. Please accept an addendum to the photo on p.7 which shows the gateway to the property owned by the Pleasant Hill-Rocky Community Club (PH-RCC) captioned “The court battles begin between Pleasant Hill/Rocky Community and Trent Lindig over the rightful ownership of the p ...

Dear Editor, Sustainability is one of those words that is used prolifically and questionably as an advertising adjective. It is so over used that it ceases to have meaning. However, it is a very important concept in boom times. Texas and the Hill Country are now in the middle of an economic boom.

Dear Editor, First of all, I am a founding member of Middle Creek Ranch (1983), so have almost 30 years of experience driving through this creek over the current low water crossing. It is absolutely, in my opinion, not a safety issue. With our dam right upstream of this crossing, only when the dam spillway overflows to the current crossing is there any issue.

Dear Editor, Taxpayers should be aware that an 80’ clear span bridge is proposed and currently being engineered to replace the low water crossing on Middle Creek Road (CR 410). This bridge proposal is being propelled by Commissioner Paul Granberg based on the argument of a “safety” improvement. This bridge is costing $68,000 just for the engineering work and is estimated between $300,000 and $500,000 in construction cost from our hard earned county revenues.

Dear Editor, My name is Jorey Berry. My husband is a teacher at LBJ High School and our son is a sophomore. When our son entered fourth grade in another school district, we knew we wanted to make a change. We already lived in Johnson City ISD and planned to move him even before the end of the fall semester.

Following is the exact statement made by District Judge Dan Mills regarding the case of the American Legion Post 352 vs. Blanco ISD as according to the transcript for a hearing held on December 13, 2013. "Judge Mills - Why don't we -- why don't we -- why don't we try that and let somebody sit down, another lawyer that knows a lot about real estate law look at this, and maybe they can refine the issues and bring it to both sides' attention, if you have an Achilles heel in your lawsuit let me te ...

Growing up in a small town you think there is nothing to do and it is so boring, you can’t wait to leave. We left 38 years ago, but came back 30 years ago and are so thankful we came back to such a loving, caring community. As2013 ends and 2014 begins we would like to say thank you!

Dear Editor, I just read the article about the dedication of the Class of 2012 gift - thanks! The article was well written and the decision to include Terry Lefford’s speech in its entirety could very likely catch the attention of adults who were not in attendance at the dedication; in turn they may have the important – yet hard – conversation with their kids and ultimately save a life.

Dear Editor, In last week’s paper, Kevin Tully suggested that anyone with information or thoughts on the issue(s) between the City of Johnson City and Wayne Pittman, write a letter to the editor. I thought this might be a useful thing to do, as I would like to see this matter put to rest once and for all.
