2011 Blanco County Fair & Rodeo Queens
The Blanco County Fair & Rodeo will be held at the fairgrounds in Johnson City on August 18-20, 2011. These queen contestants are vying for the crown annual bestowed at the Queen's Contest. The contest will be held at 7pm on Friday, August 19, with the coronation held at 7pm the following day.

Kendra Smith
Daughter of Doug and Traci Smith, is sponsored by Susy Q’s. Her extracurricular activities include 4-H, FFA, District FFA Officer Team (Hill District), THCBRA (Texas Hill Country Barrel Racing Association) Horse Judging, Livestock judging, market goat showing, barrel racing, horse showing, public speaking and community service. Kendra admires her Aunt Tami Purcell Burkland because she is extremely hard working and very accomplished in life. She has worked hard in her goals and has accomplishes many of them. She has never lost faith in God, her family or her friends, never losing sight of what is most important. Kendra’s favorite thing about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo is how it is a place where you can see family, friends and the community come together and have a great time together. She also loves how it is an opportunity for her to open herself up to everyone in the community.

Kaylie Smith
Daughter of Monty & Shanna Brown, is sponsored by Tony’s Garage. Her extracurricular activities include volleyball and art. Kaylie says there are too many woman who inspire her for different reasons to choose just one. Kaylie’s favorite thing about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo is that it’s the one time of year everybody from Blanco County comes together in one place to share, watch and enjoy some friendly competition and to catch up on what happened in the past year.

Sarah Shumake
Daughter of Sid and Jennifer Shumake, is sponsored by the Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department. Her extracurricular activities include 4-H, competitive cheerleading, varsity cheerleader, LBJ band, and junior cheer coach. She says that cheerleading is a big part of her life. Sarah admires her Mom because she works very hard at everything she does and she does so much for their whole family. She has the biggest heart and Sarah aspires to be like her one day. Sarah’s favorite thing about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo is the setting of a small town all getting together as a big family and having fun Texas style.

Callie Jane Nance
Daughter of Lisa and Tim Nance, is sponsored by Blanco Heating & Cooling. Her extracurricular activities include Blanco varsity cheerleading, speech & debate, alter server at church, UIL, Leo club, student council, class president, FCCLA, volunteering at Blanco County Fair & Rodeo on weekends and piano. Callie admires her grandma, Lillian Weber. She is a hard working rancher and has been her entire life. She believes family, church and community are the most important things in life. She inspires Callie to do her best and to give back to the community she lives in. Callie’s favorite thing about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo is how it brings people in our community together, and it represents who we are. It’s an event that takes a lot of work to put together, but it is worth every minute put into it!

Taylor Bible
Daughter of Ray & Rayette Bible, is sponsored by Diamond X. Her extracurricular activities include 4-H, FFA, showing goats, steers and rabbits. She is very involved in her church youth group and she volunteers at the Special Olympics. She plays softball and tennis. Taylor admires her Dad because he teaches her ways to persevere and do whatever she can to help others. Taylor’s favorite thing about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo is catching up with her friends and the Queen’s Contest!

Katelynn Barrientes
Daughter of Holly and Richard Barrientes, is sponsored by Sunset Canyon Vet Clinic. Her extracurricular activities include band, sports (volleyball, cross country, track, softball & boxing), volunteering at the little league baseball fields. Katelynn admires her Dad because even though he is not her biological father, he has been there for her since she was a year and a half old. Katelynn’s favorite thing about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo is the many different varieties of food.

Her extracurricular activities include Blanco varsity cheerleader, UIL, member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Leo club, FCCLA club, Class vice president, student council and playing guitar. Danielle admires her grandpa because he’s a positive person, a very hard worker, and has a very strong faith; something that she herself would strive for. Danielle’s favorite thing about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo is that it brings the community together and it’s a great place to have a good time with your friends and family.

Her extracurricular activities include Blanco varsity cheerleader, Home Church youth group, varsity track team, ag, FFA, and showing her animals. Sarah admires her grandparents because they are both strong willed and big hearted survivors of cancer. She hopes to be as loving, honest, kind hearted and hard working as they have always been. Sarah’s favorite thing about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo is the determination that the cowboys/cowgirls show to ride in each event in the rodeo. The hard work and dedication they put into practicing and making themselves the best they can be.

Her extracurricular activities include FFA & 4-H vice president, Eagles in service, livestock judging, plant identification, horse judging, vet assistant program, VASE, National Honor Society. Melinda admires her Ag teachers because they have helped her become outgoing and figure out what she wants to do with her life. Melinda's favorite thing about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo is the way the community comes together and supports eachother.

Chelsea admires Mandi Welch because she has been through everything with her. She has always looked up to her. She is Chelsea's cousin but acts more like her big sister, Chelsea loves her to pieces. Chelsea's favorite thing about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo is all the people being together, the dancing & rides, hanging out with all your friends & seeing everyone be themselves.

Courtney Stanton
Daughter of Lynn Rutledge and George Stanton, is sponsored by Benson Chevrolet. Her extracurricular activities include 2010-2011 FFA member, star Greenhand, high point Greenhand, Greenhand FFA degree, plant ID judging team, livestock judging team, wildlife judging team, Eagles in service award, Blanco County Livestock participant 2008-2010, 2008-2010 4-H member, enrolled in veterinary science program and 2011-2012 FPA Sentinel officer. Courtney admires her Uncle Ray because he taught her how to be a fighter, not through words but through his determination to live life to the fullest and never give up hope in his fight against cancer. He passed away in January 2011. Courtney's favorite thing about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo is how the community comes together along with friends and family to experience the livestock show, encourage other participants to be the best they can be, an opportunity to be yourself, have fun and inspire others.

Daughter of Carol & Kevin Stueler, is sponsored by New England Financial. Her extracurricular activities include 4-H, horse judging, band and part time baby sitting. Brenna admires her Aunt Su because she really cares about animals and the environment, and Brenna would love to be like her someday. Brenna's says she doesn't have just one favorite thing about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo but she has several. First the Queen's contest, then the rodeo and then hanging out with her friends.

Daughter of Cris-Ann Craig (Mother), deceased Dad, is sponsored by Horseshoe Bay Vet Clinic. Her extracurricular activities include sports (volleyball, cross country, basketball, track & tennis) Glory admires her sister Cassie because Cassie has taught her so many life lessons and has always been there for me. She is a singer and guitarist and is extremely talented. Glory's favorite thing about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo is hanging out with all of her family.

Shelby Conlon
Daughter of Michelle & David Conlon, is sponsored by Zachary P. Huddler, Attorney at Law. Her extracurricular activities include vollyball, basketball, track, VASE competition with her photography, current president of Johnson City Soaring Eagles 4-H Club, member of Johnson City FFA, competes in livestock judging and showing steers and hogs. Shelby admires Trace Adkins because he has overcome so much in his life from almost losing his kids and his own life to now being one of the most successful singers in country music. This shows that no matter what you go through you are able to come back from anything. Shelby says she loves everything about the Blanco County Fair & Rodeo from the start of the rodeo to being with friends and family and just having a good time.
