The Eagles have done it again! This year JCISD dominated in the UIL Academic Competition that took place in Hunt, Texas last December. Johnson City won first place by 56 points – whereas Mason ISD came in second and Center Point ISD came in at third place. For the first time in JCISD history, the school district placed first in every math contest…in every grade level!
Club Ed, Kerrville Independent School District’s continuing education program, is offering a one-day Parent’s Workshop for sending your child to college called Going to College and Paying for it, with sessions offered on the following Saturdays – February 18th, March 3rd, and April 14th. The class will be held from 10 – 11:30 am at the Auld Center, 1121 Second Street, behind B.T.

These three projects were shown at the Hill District Ag. Mechanics show over the weekend in Kerrville. They will be in the Blanco County Stock Show January 26th thru 28th. All three projects got blue ribbons and Kelly Wright won her class and was division champion. She was one of only three projects in the entire show that got a purple ribbon.
Congratulations to All Region Band Members Brandon Adams, Fabian Weirich, Amara Yachimski, Jose Mesa and Katelyn Barrientes. These students competed against Regions 18 and 26 band students last month to win a chair in the All Region Symphonic and Concert bands. They will be participating in a Region Clinic and Concert this Friday and Saturday at Texas State University in San Marcos.
LBJ High School junior Melinda Holdridge was recently invited to attend the Abeline Christian University’s Honors College Summer Academy. During her week long course, she will participate in debate and will be taught how to debate by National Champion Speech and Debate team. To be accepted in this program shows an academic talent and a drive to excel.
John Schulz, pictured with Rodney Topper of Johnson Sewell Ford, is the December Perfect Attendance Winner for Johnson City ISD. John is a Math Teacher and has been with the district for 10 years.

Under the masthead banner “Building for the Future,” the JCISD School Board and Administration reviewed 2011 final reports from various departments, then set a course of action to achieve “Exemplary” status for all three LBJ campuses by year’s end. All hands were on deck Monday evening for the first regularly-scheduled meeting of the JCISD Board of Education.
FFA members are working hard on this year’s entries in the shop project show at the stock show. The students are learning valuable skills while constructing the wide variety of projects entered in this year’s show. The different divisions in the show are wood only, metal only, and metal and wood combination and trailer.

Pedernales Electric is once again offering scholarships to high school and home-schooled seniors in its service area. PEC will provide 30 scholarships — 25 worth $1,000 and five worth $5,000 — to deserving seniors this spring. The scholarships can be used to pay expenses at any accredited university, college, junior college, technical school or trade school.
