Dear Editor, Ever so often the little Hacker girls, Katie and Maddy and I get in our Mule and we drive the 3.8 miles up to Highway 290 W picking up beer cans and bottles, discarded paper goods and this time we even found a car part that we can’t identify.
Dear Editor, Our community is fortunate in that it does not have youth drug and alcohol use problems as serious as a number of communities face, but that does not mean that we have none. That point was made several days ago when the Johnson City Police Dept and JCISD held an informative community meeting to tell us about D.A.R.T., a drug and alcohol resistance training program of educational value to both parents and grandparents in the area.

I would like to thank and commend the Johnson City Fire department and The Johnson City EMS for their efforts Monday night during this years Trick or Treating. Not only did they put on a wonderful party open to the public but they handed out glow stick necklaces and arm bands so kids could be seen as they darted in and out of homes filling their bags with candy and treats. This year Johnson City Really shined, Churches held fun filled Festivals and the town come together for a safe e ...
The public should acknowledge, with thanks to all Pedernales Electric Cooperative directors, the approval in August of a resolution by the PEC board of a commitment to protect the beauty of the hill country night skies. PEC has pledged to work with land owners, businesses, communities and public entities to reduce and modify the use of outdoor lighting that is starting to produce such glare that we are losing the beauty of our night skies here in the hill country.
My heart is heavy as my mind searches for some sort of positive to come out of the recent tragedy that has washed over the community of Johnson City and outward throughout the surrounding areas. I was driving to pick up my daughter from a weekend stay in a nearby town when a dialogue started playing in my mind.

The Johnson City vs Harper football game went into "3" overtimes last Friday night. Harper won with a game winning touchdown by Guy Stevenson (Freshman quarterback) 35-27. Of course, I have personal ties to both cities. My other nephew-Cal Stevenson made terrific plays and caught an interception for Harper as well.

Dear Editor, I held an Estate Sale this past weekend and I owe a part of it’s success to the advertising I put into the Wesner Newspapers. With the help of the Johnson City Record Courier I was able to put ads in the Mason, Llano and Blanco Newspapers. I had people from all three towns come buy at the sale.
I would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the people that have gotten together to bring items collected in your town and bring them our way. Such as the community of Hye, and (the Preservation society), Stonewall, Round Mountain, the Hotels in Marble falls (Motel 6, Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn) and Logan Lombard for asking the hotels for those donations.

Dear Editor, We would like to publicly acknowledge and thank everyone who fought to save our home from fire on Friday, Sept. 2nd. We are absolutely amazed by the selfless dedication and courage of our local volunteer firefighters! To all of the JC volunteers, our heartfelt thanks and deepest gratitude! Our fire chief, Roy Burdett, directed the firefighting efforts with great wisdom and prompt decisions that resulted in saving our home from imminent threat.

Dear Editor: I have recently been informed that my post office in Hye Texas is on the "Postal Hit List" scheduled for closure because it is small and in a rural area along with many others. My initial reaction was to go to Washington, D.C. and box someone’s ears in. Lucky for you my calmer side surfaced and I decided that I would instead write a letter.
