Dear Editor, Senator Troy Fraser and Representative Patrick Rose have really been cranking up the volume in their attack on the PEC. At the August PEC Board meeting they denounced the Board – one which, for the first time, was elected by PEC owners (that is, its members). During his comments, Fraser threatened to dissolve or "break-up"
What makes a teacher chose a career that requires spending eight hours a day with twenty one children? Just imagine; take even your best child (or grandchild), multiply by twenty-one and then imagine spending every day, eight hours a day with each and every one of them for about nine months out of the year.

Dear Editor The Recycling Center provides needed services to both Johnson City and Northern Blanco County. Since people in the county also use the Recycling Center, why aren’t the operating costs shared between Johnson City and Blanco County? With the Recycling Center closed I can visualize refrigerators, water heaters, old computers, rusted metal, plastic bottles, broken glass bottles, soda/beer cans, broken toys, and assorted junk scattered around Johnson C ...
Dear Editor: I wish that we could spend more time trying to prosecute the felons that have dumped cats at various locations throughout Blanco County, rather than pursing the charitable acts of persons that have been feeding and caring for these victims of human irresponsibility. Animal abuse is a felony in the state of Texas and the dumping of animals is surely animal abuse.
Dear Editor: The Hill County 100 Club has received reports that some telephone solicitation contractors for the Texas State Troopers Association (TSTA) have been claiming that the 100 Clubs spend 95% of their money on marketing. In the case of the Hill Country 100 Club and others we are familiar with, they have it backwards.

Dear Editor, I am writing in response to the proposed closing of the recycle center by the City Council. Many of us in the community rely on the center for our recycling needs. It is a wonderful service that Johnson City provides. In these times of great concern for the planet: oil spills, global warming, and carbon emissions; our community must continue any and all efforts to support our environment.

Dear Editor: I read with interest the plight that Aurelia Dominguez and her children Myra and Maricel find themselves. Not only did the house that Mrs. Dominguez owned burned to the ground but the debris that is left has to be moved. Already one daughter Myra Hernandez has paid almost $1000 in trying to comply with whatever the city or whomever says must be done but as you read someone took advantage of the empty dumpster and decided to make use of it for themselve ...
Dear Editor, I have been a member of the Johnson City community for the past five years. I love working here, I love this town and I also love that I can leisurely take a walk, go for a run or a bike ride with my family. Over the past year I have noticed more and more unrestrained dogs when we are trying to enjoy these events.

To the Editor, We would like to know what happened to the good old days? When the July 4th parade was held in the mornings, and took place around the Court House. It was cooler than the time that has been chosen the past two years. My friends children started participating in the parade 10 years ago.
Letter to the Editor, Several months ago a house burned down due to an electrical fire. The family living in the home escaped without injury, but with only what they were wearing at the time. There has been some community support, but not enough to get them back on their feet.
