It is said that a doctor can tell a great deal about our physical condition simply by looking at our tongue. The same is true of our spiritual condition. How we use our tongues is a great indicator of our spiritual status. Did you know that all of our religion amounts to nothing if we do not learn to bridle our tongues?

During the time of the American Revolution a story is told of a commander of the British troops who was playing a game of cards when a courier arrived with an urgent correspondence addressed to the colonel. That celebration will be next Sunday, the 13th, with former pastors invited back for both services and a reception in between.
In Jeremiah 17:10 the Lord says, "I the Lord search the heart." Disregarding all other aspects of the person, such as economic standing, race and nationality, God looks upon the moral character or heart of man (Acts 10:35). The fact that the God of Heaven searches our hearts makes building Christian character very important. Being spiritually minded is the key building Christian character.
I was reminded recently that the only thing growing in my family tree are fruits and nuts. Personally, I am not sure if I am a fruit or a nut. Just do not ask my wife. I had been away for so long I had forgotten many things about my family.

What if — just before Thanksgiving — all the turkeys went on strike and refused to be dinner? That was the problem presented by the ACT II kids at the First United Methodist Church during both services Sunday morning. ACT II brings elementary school children (Methodist or not) together to produce plays, like this one about the true meaning of Thanksgiving.
