If someone in my family were to get sick at this time of year, it would always be allergies. I have been through the doctors office many times in earlier years, and always end up with a decongestant, antihistamine, and antibiotics. These would keep you awake, dry you out, and leave you big headed.

We want to thank everyone that made it to the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas on February 24th. They will return to the H.O.M.E. Church parking lot at 405 N US 281, Johnson City, Texas 78636 on March 23rd, 2012. Mark your calendar with the fourth Friday of every month from 11 am – 1 pm.

*****Paul and Sherry Jenkins were in Houston to see one of their grandsons play basketball. They also were able to visit with a life long friend in MD Anderson who under went Stem Cell surgery February 2. He is doing great and on schedule. They finished up in Corpus Christi for a little sun and salt water fishing.

Important…..for everyone in Blanco County….The Capital Area Food Bank of Texas will return in February 2012 on the 24th from 11 am – 1 pm. They will be at the H.O.M.E. In lieu of my normal column, The Storteller, this week I just wanted to say a few words about Bill and express my condolences to his family. Bill Elsbury was truly larger than life. He was a big man and had an even bigger heart. I know this because so many loved him and admired him.

What a way to start a Monday! Two gentlemen, Kemp and Rosendo, cooked pancakes and sausage for those of us that were willing to brave the rain. They served us and even had coffee and orange juice. Now this is my kind of Monday and everybody seems to be on the same idea that I am, that we could definitely have this every Monday.

Ooohh..my…it is cool this morning and my bones feel it. I think I am ready for the weather to get warmer, but I am also ready for rain. Who watched the Super Bowl on Sunday? Final score was Giants 21, Patriots 17. My favorite part, even though I hate to admit it, is the commercials.

Our dog, Polly Smith, just had her first birthday this past December and we just celebrated our first whole year with Polly as our number 2 dog. A year ago we ventured out to Christ Yoder Animal Shelter and this cute little brown, white and black spotted dog climbed to the top of a 5 pup pile of her siblings and said, “Take me, take me.” We did.
