Well, here is another week and can you believe the awesome weekend we had? Cool mornings that just take your breath away. We could use some rain and some seems to slowly be slipping into the forecast. We should maybe say a prayer or two for some rain. So this is what we are praying for.
It is Friday morning, and a beautiful day. I got up and headed to the big city of Stonewall, Texas. My new found cousin and some of her quilting friends were staying at the Quilt Retreat there. I had been invited before to check it out and did not make it,, so I really wanted to get there this time.
I have often heard the expressions "when Hell freezes over," and "when pigs fly." We may not live in Hell, but it’s certainly been hot as Hell for the past few days. But wouldn’t you know it that last Saturday morning - although we didn’t have a freeze – our low was a cool 55 degrees!
*****Tuesday was a big day at the Kevin Carter home with friends and family. They celebrated their oldest daughter Torrey’s engagement. *****Did you happen to catch the news report regarding Channel 36 KXAN on the Johnson City Recycling Center? It aired at 6 pm, on Wednesday, August 25. *****Joe Summy began teaching PHD classes at the University of Texas – San Antonio on Thursday, August 26th. *****Madeline Elizabeth Clower was born August 25, 2010 at 12:4 ...

Well, here we are at our porch. We have a tenant, Ethel Moreland, who has moved closer to her family. We really miss her as she was a good friend to many here. We have another tenant, Joyce Segura, who has moved to be close to her family as well.
Can you believe it’s been nearly a year since the planet Neptune was discovered? My how the time flies. OK, so it’s been 164 Earth years, but it’s but only been one Neptunian year. When Neptune was discovered in 1846, it was located just inside the western border of the constellation Aquarius.
I got up Thursday morning, made a few phone calls, and we were on our way. New Braunfels, here we come! Quilt Haus was having a sale. We had been told about the sale on several occasions and how great it was going to be. They had over 2000 bolts of fabric on sale ranging from $3.88 to $5.88 per yard. We arrived a little early and decided to set in the car until a line started to form.
*****Johnson City’s own Eric Pianka was featured on KRLU-HD this past Tuesday evening. Eric was in Australia hunting and doing experiments with Sand Lizards. He caught and attached cameras to lizards to study what lizards see from their point of view. Kind of exciting to turn on the television and see someone you know isn’t it?
In Blanco County, you can count on two things in the month of August – a heat wave, and the Fair and Rodeo. There’s not a Blanco County Fair and Rodeo that would be complete without the accompanying parade as well. I would have submitted an entry into the food exhibit if it weren’t for the fact that I had already broadcasted the news of my ongoing jelly debacle.

Another weekend of heat and it makes you wonder, where is the rain? Things are drying up and beginning to look a little drab. Tuesday, we had CAFB here, along with Catholic Charities. These are two wonderful services for anyone in Blanco County. I do not know what we would do without these services. This Friday is our 3rd Friday Luncheon.
