THE TOWN WE LIVE IN
Dear Editor:
In an economic downturn, you would expect that the merchants would be tightening their belts and declining requests for donations to charitable causes.
It was uplifting to find that in our town, this just was not so. Each year the Tenant’s Association holds a Christmas Party for the residents of the Johnson City Housing Authority. Volunteers go out into the community and ask our merchants for contributions, which in turn, become door and game prizes for the residents.
I wish each of the kind folks who contributed could have seen the happiness their gifts brought to the faces of our Seniors! I know it warmed the hearts of all of the recipients and made the party exciting and joyous for all who attended.
My own heart was warmed by the generous spirit of all who gave and gave and gave. It seemed as though some could not give enough. How fortunate, I thought, to be living in such a loving, caring community. Thanks to all who made the party so special and for thinking and supporting all who live here. I hope that through our support, these fine merchants will prosper and grow in the New Year. Thanks to the following for their help:
