The Johnson City FFA Wildlife Team competed in contests in San Antonio and San Angelo on February 19 and 20. Garrett Deike, Slater Sultemeier, Nathan Preece, Ashley Bargsley, Shania Dubose, Elizabeth Nunn, & Jonathan Schulze competed in the San Antonio Livestock Exposition and San Angelo Stock Show Wildlife CDE’s. The team dominated the competition at San Angelo, walking away with the 1st place plaque. In the San Antonio contest, the team was 4th out of the 53 teams competing there. Garrett Deike was 1st High Individual in San Angelo, and was awarded a $500 scholarship. In this event, students must identify plants & wildlife species that prefer them, answer questions dealing with biological facts, fish and game laws, as well as hunter and boater safety. They must also be knowledgeable in habitat management and using a compass. Congratulations to the Johnson City FFA Wildlife Teams for getting off to a great start this season!
