HELP US SHOOT DICK WIEMERS! Dick got his seasonal flu shot at the Blanco County shot clinic last year, and he says he’ll be in line again for this year’s shot on Wednesday, October 21, at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson City. The shooters from the Department of State Health Services will work from 9 to noon that morning to immunize residents against the three strains of regular flu that are just starting to circulate this year. They will not have the H1N1 swine flu vaccine — it hasn’t arrived yet — but they have plenty of the seasonal flu vaccine, plus Td/Tdap and pneumonia shots, too. The seasonal vaccine has been in short supply in some places, although DSHS says that won’t be a problem in Blanco County. DSHS asks a donation of $10 for the flu shot and Td/Tdap, and $20 for the pneumonia, but they’re covered by Medicare and it’s all free if you can’t afford it. Questions? Call DSHS at 830-693-8424. Otherwise, be there to see Dick get shot.
