Darryl James Weisenbaugh, age 63, of Johnson City, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2013 at University Hospital in San Antonio surrounded by his loving wife and children after a courageous battle with liver disease. Darryl was born in Wayne, Michigan on May 1, 1950 to George and Marion Weisenbaugh.

Darryl James Weisenbaugh, age 63, of Johnson City, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2013 at University Hospital in San Antonio surrounded by his loving wife and children after a courageous battle with liver disease. Darryl was born in Wayne, Michigan on May 1, 1950 to George and Marion Weisenbaugh. After graduating from John Glenn High School in 1968, he married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Russell, on November 9 of that same year. He was drafted into the U.S.

Johnson City residents turned out in record numbers on Saturday, May 11th to cast their ballots in the general election to vote for the mayor and three city council representatives. 130 residents took advantage of early voting, while another 159 voters participated on the day of the election. A total of 289 votes were cast in this years election, which was about a 60% increase in voter turnout from 2012 when only 170 people voted in all.

AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Texas at Austin is Texas’ premier public research university, home to more than 50,000 students, 2,700 faculty members and 19,000 staffers. In December 2012, about 3,100 students received degrees. Elaine Swiss spoke to the Hill Country Spurs 4-H Club this month to invite members and parents to a free competitive trail clinic for area junior riders, aged 10-18, on Saturday, February 9 at the Swiss Ranch in Round Mountain. More than 20 club members learned the basics of competitive trail and what to expect at the clinic which is offered in conjunction with the North American Trail Ride Conference (NATRC) Region 4 Convention and Annual Awards Banquet.

Professor Bryan Massey from the University of Central Arkansas answered questions from students of The Dragonfly International School recently at The Benini Galleries and Sculpture Ranch. Massey, was removing a sculpture to deliver it to new owners in Austin, and installing a new eleven foot high sculpture on the ranch, when students climbed out of their buses and were abuzz with questions.

The LBJ Eagle varsity boys basketball team played their county and district rival the Blanco Panthers on Friday, January 25 at LBJ High School gym. The game was close and exciting throughout and wasn’t decided until the final minutes. Each team played excellent, tight defense and points were at a premium but in the end the Panthers came away with a hard fought 40-32 win.
