Former students of Texas A&M University will assemble in Johnson City on April 21st for the annual Texas Aggie Muster to honor all Texas Aggies who have passed away within the last year, announced Muster Chair Waymond Lighfoot. Various Muster activities, including a catered meal and the traditional Muster Ceremony will begin at 6:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church Activities Building in Johnson City, TX.

Few people write a book while in their 80’s and then attempt to get it published. But that is exactly what Peggy Stieler did. Peggy, who lived many years in Cypress Mill with her husband Bob, and is known by many in Johnson City, recently had the joy of seeing her book Me and My Human come out in print. Co-authored with her friend, Janet Curfman, the book was inspired by a kitten Peggy adopted one month after the death of her husband.

Youth Community Assistance Program will be having an activity on Saturday, April 10th, 2010 at the ASB Karate Studio in Johnson City. The Theme of this Activity is "Fear Factor". Oak and pollen are trying to destroy every one. Just when the weather gets perfect, along come the allergies. I guess that is the price we pay for the beautiful wildflowers and all the lovely green. Michala is deathly allergic to the oak pollen. I did really good this year and started her on all her medication about a month before hand.
Well, how was that for a beautiful Easter. I have seen some beautiful Easters, but it seems that this was the best ever. We had awesome weather. It was overcast, but we enjoyed that also. This begins a week of busy, busy, and busy. I hope that no one forgot the Food Pantry at the Annex.
Do you remember when I shared with you about quilt blocks painted on the sides of barns in rural Virginia, Iowa and other states on our visit to Maine. I wanted to build a barn just so I could paint a quilt block on it. Well, the quilt block craze has gone suburban.
If you didn’t eat more eggs than usual this Saturday or Sunday then the Easter Bunny did not come to see you. I know the Easter Bunny was around because I was over at Hope School and the Bunny had been there and covered the front lawn with eggs and small prizes.
*****Carrie DeSpain & the entire Sultemeier family are excited! Niece Ashley Field plays for Baylor Bears Ladies Basketball. That team was in the final 4 championship game in San Antonio on Sunday. On April 5, 2010, the Johnson City Police Department investigated a complaint of a fox that was displaying symptoms of rabies in the 700 block of Live Oak. This is the first rabies complaint that JCPD has investigated in 2010. We would like to remind citizens to vaccinate their pets for the safety of our community.

On Tuesday, April 6th, the Johnson City City Council held their monthly meeting. The meeting began promptly at 6:00 pm. Although there were a number of residents in attendance, nobody chose to speak during the public forum at the start of the meeting. The council first heard from Pedernales Electric Company (PEC) spokesperson, James Crawford.
Pedernales Electric encourages members and employees to take its Earth Day Pledge to conserve electricity and make environmentally friendly choices. In taking the pledge, members and employees promise to do all they can to reduce their electric use on Earth Day, Thursday, April 22. On Thursday, March 25th, directors from Pedernales, Gillespie County, Comal-Guadalupe, Kendall, Kerr County, and Bandera soil and water conservation districts (SWCDs) attended a tour of the Honey Creek State Natural Area. The Watershed Study in Honey Creek State Natural Area was established in 1999 by NRCS to evaluate the combined effects of using Selective Brush Removal (Ashe Juniper) to increase water quantity while protecting water quality.
Kendra Smith and Kayla Meier had successful outings with their 4-H and FFA projects at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Goat Show on March 11. Both young ladies exhibited goats in the Light-Heavyweight Division, competing against 85 exhibitors. When the dust had settled..Kendra placed 4th and Kayla 11th; qualifying for the premium sale.

Johnson Cities’ baseball team continued their season this past week by hosting district rival Blanco and also going to San Antonio to face a district foe, the Randolph Rohawks. The Eagles lost their first district game of the season as they were defeated by Blanco by a score of 13-9, but "got back on the winning track"
The LBJ Eagle track teams competed at the Mason relays last Thursday, April 1 as they prepare for the district meet next week. The JV boys team placed 3rd overall at the meet with a total of 116 points. The JV Eagles gathered in many 1st place medals. First place winners included the mile relay team of Jordan Jones, Adam Lefford, DJ Robertson & Van Johnson.
Thursday, April 1st the Lady Eagles competed against Harper. The Lady Eagle JV team defeated Harper 11-4. Kacie Cantwell pitched a sensational game with 7 strike-outs in 4 innings. Jessie Rios led the offense hitting 3 for 3. The offense continued with Brittany Harris, Madison Fountain, Kacie Cantwell, Chandler Wagner, Shelby Conlon, and Kelsey Heavner all hitting 2 for 3.
Tuesday, March 30th JV Lady Eagles competed against Blanco JV. The Lady Eagles lost in a close game of 6-8. Elizabeth O’ Day pitched an amazing game. Leading the defense were Jacy Johnson, Madison Fountaine, Chandler Wagner, Shelby Conlon, and Andrea Workman. Leading the offense for the Lady Eagles were Jessie Rios, Brittany Harris, and Kelsey Heavner. The Lady Eagle Varsity team also competed against Blanco and was defeated1-7.
