I said so...
I was watching the news the other morning, when they started to talk about Haiti, terrible what has happened. I want you to know that I would hate for that to happen to anyone. Having to deal with the total devastation of a family, a home, a community, a church, a country.
It is so hard to believe that February is almost over. Saturday brought us a beautiful day and Sunday was a little dreary and now for this week they are forecasting some snow for us starting Tuesday, now how is that for starting out March 2010? Next week brings us our Tenant Association meeting on March 2nd, 2010 @ 5:00 pm.
Darlene and I visited Marble Falls Quilt Guild on Wednesday. We took 28 anti-ouch pouches to the meeting. We missed the first half of the meeting because of the wreck on the bridge. So did several other ladies coming from the Spicewood area. We did get to hear the wonderful program presented by Lynn Roddy Brown from the Houston area.
Where the Months Got Their Names
Since the earliest times, the natural cycles of the Sun and Moon have been used to measure intervals of time. Solar cycles define days, years, and seasons while the Moon marks off months ("moonths"). There are two major lunar cycles, the best known being the 29 1/2-day synodic month during which the Moon goes from new Moon to new Moon.
Tin Can Alley
Our County Road might have been aptly named Tin Can Alley until last Saturday when twin three year olds, Katie and Maddy Hacker and Granny, that’s me, cleaned up the bar ditches. The girls came out for a visit with me and Pat and I decided that I’d take them for some clean-up duty.

Are you tired of politics and tired of hearing about politics? Then, you should plan to attend your party’s precinct convention and be a part of the political process rather than only a disgruntled citizen. As I am the Republican County Chair, I can only tell you specifics about Republican meetings; however, I am certain that the notice of the Democrat precinct meetings will be posted at the polls on March, 2nd. What is a precinct convention?

The estate tax will be one of the big issues in Congress for farmers and ranchers in 2010. "The exemption levels at the end of 2009 were $3.5 million per household. In 2010 that has gone away. The estate tax has expired," said Adrian Schulze, of the Blanco County Farm Bureau.

Snow Fun Dear Editor: Wasn’t the snow fantastic? I just sat at home and watched it all day. Watching the news and calling family I saw that most of us enjoyed our winter storm. Seems like people all over had a good time with it. Except those driving and skidding off the road and those who got D-Hall for making snowballs at the high school after school had been dismissed. Watching the news, I saw kids throwing snowballs with th ...

Like millions of other Christians around the world, Kris Axtell received a cross of ashes on her forehead this week on Ash Wednesday. In her case, it was in Johnson City from Pastor Sid Spiller of First United Methodist Church. The ashes, which give Ash Wednesday its name, are from the burned palm fronds used on previous years’ Palm Sundays.
Only 10 months into their marriage, during an otherwise calm Sunday drive to church one July morning, a young Navy couple’s car was broadsided by a streaking ambulance racing through an intersection. The driver of the car, R. L. Alford, sustained some minor injuries. But his wife, Hilda, was thrown from the vehicle, suffering a massive head injury that left her not only a quadriplegic, but also legally blind and unable to speak. That was 50 years ago—50 years of communica ...
