Wow. 36 kids, 15 adults, a 7 hour bus ride to the ranch 5 miles west of Alpine, two hikes, a 3/4 mile trip back to the bus standing in a stock trailer, Pizza Hut in a hail storm, an hour bus ride to the Observatory (straight uphill except for the hairpin curves), heavy cloud cover, then the skies allowed the gemini twins to peek out, then Saturn, then a brilliant clear display of millions of stars with each of us peering at the heavens thru giant telescopes.

There are lots of book series about quilters or quilting. Two of my favorites are by Emilie Richards and Jennifer Chiaverini. Jennifer’s series is about an old plantation home made into a quilting camp where quilters can go for weeks and learn to make quilts from some great ladies. Each of the stories is about a found quilt or one of the owners or teachers of the camp.

Yes, I know what the acronym SNAFU means so don’t go assuming that I do not. The acronym SNAFU originated in the military, if you didn’t know that, and it goes like this; “Situation normal, all ——— up.” (expletive deleted!) It has been softened to read “Situation normal, all fouled up.” Wikipedia says the definition is something that is hopelessly and completely confused.
*****Friends entertained Bonnie Holland with a trip to PoPo’s restaurant near Comfort and a side trip to Comfort in search of the famous corn muffins they make there but alas it was the ‘closed’ day for the bakery so they just looked through the shops. Did I say it was Bonnie’s Happy Birthday? *****Recently, Blanco Master Gardener’s Peggy Welch and Susan Hamm attended the State MG Convention in Marshall, Texas.
