Each “flood bucket” contains a complete cleaning kit for a flooded house, down to clothes pins and line for drying laundry when the power is off.

Our new year will begin with new student registration on Monday and Tuesday, August 4th and 5th. All students new to the district and any Kindergarten students not registered will do so on these two days. Documents needed for registration are: Birth certificate, shot record, and social security card.

The American Red Cross says it will begin offering CPR, First Aid and AED training in Blanco County quarterly, as a result of increased local interest in taking the classes.

(AUSTIN) — With the rising cost of gasoline, groceries and other goods, the annual clothing sales tax holiday will help families’ back-to-school budgets go farther, Texas Comptroller Susan Combs said today.
Combs announced that the 10th annual sales tax holiday will take place Aug. 15-17. During the tax holiday weekend, most clothing and shoes priced less than $100 can be purchased tax free.

The 2008 Blanco County Fair Exhibit Hall will feature several new events for both children and adults on Saturday, August 16.
Four FREE activities are planned for the kids. PEC Programs Representatives will be on hand to present the Louie the Lightning Bug program. Texas Farm Bureau Field Representative, Dennis Dean will be on hand with the Mobile Learning Barn.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department finalized the early season migratory game bird regulations, which includes dove and teal seasons for 2008-09. Texas hunters will see a 16-day September teal season and no changes to the South Dove Zone segments.
The North Zone runs Sept. 1-Oct. 30, with a 15-bird bag and not more than two white-tipped dove; the Central Zone is Sept.

“Ignite the Flame” was the familiar phrase we heard at the 80th Annual State FFA Convention. Not only was this the theme of the convention, but also was a message of what we and more than 10,000 other Texas FFA members would be doing in Lubbock, TX July 14-18.
