My husband and I both had doctor appointments in Austin last week.

Guess what? I am making a “Kitchen Quilt”. I have a friend who has been making them for years. She makes her own patterns and hand-pieces them and hand-quilts them. I am making my first one and I plan to make quite a few of them in the future. This is the perfect project to carry in your purse and work on anywhere.

Pierce my ears? I think not, at least up until now but maybe I should rethink that for the sake of hygiene and availability. I’d just as soon have a ring through my nose. I am probably the only woman of a certain age in this entire county of some 6,000 people of which maybe two thirds of them are women and probably more than half of those women have at least two holes (one in each lobe) in their ears.

With gas prices topping $4.00 per gallon, more and more Texans are trading their gas-guzzling SUVs and pickup trucks for more fuel-efficient motorcycles to save at the pump. More motorcycles on the road means more motorcyclists may crash and ultimately die on Texas roadways. That’s why the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is launching a motorcycle safety campaign encouraging drivers to take extra caution watching for motorcyclists on roadways.
Because they have less physical prote ...

We know that it should be hot and dry for July and August; however, it has been that way around our place at Oatmeal since May. I sure hope that my wife Patty is right in saying that June rains are coming in July. We really do need them. This is certainly the time of year that we all should have mulched deep and wide and have either soaker hoses or a drip system in place
as they should be in full use.
Tomatoes are not happy, but the peppers are really loving it.

Romance is certainly not the foundation of
marriage, but it sure makes the relationship warm and secure. At times it’s the best way to say, “I really love you.” In order for romance to flow most freely, however, a husband and wife must be committed to putting God first.
