Last week marked a new beginning for the Lady Eagle Varsity Basketball Team with resounding victories against the Lady Medina Bobcats and the Lady Rocksprings Angoras. Returning varsity members include senior Avry Stolzman, junior Kelya Jureczki, and sophomores Alex Houston and Kayla Jernigan. Against the Medina Bobcats Kayla Jernigan led the Lady Eagles with the high score of 19 points, while Avry Stolzman had 6 strong assists throughout the game, with the final score of the game being 38-30. Against the Rocksprings Angoras Kelya Jureczki led the team with 6 steals, with the final score of 33-22. The varsity team looks district bound!

The Junior Varsity team also began a new season with a positive attitude and loads of determination. Freshman Brittany Harris had the high score with 8 points, while the team fought hard throughout the entire game. With only 5 players they had the leading points in the first half, but coming up short reaching the final score of 13-27. Against the Rocksprings Angoras Stephanie Grey had the lead with 12 rebounds, they fought hard ending the score of 8-28. The team shows promise and dedication for the upcoming season.

This year should be real competitive, and we are hoping to have tons of support from our Eagle fans. The next home game will be against Center Point on Tuesday November 25th at the high school gym, and we are looking forward to another victory.
