*****Harry and Patty Carpenter went to Magnolia to spend the night with their son, Scott, Laurie, and children. Then they went on to Round Rock to visit with Chris, Debby, and April, another son and family. They wanted to introduce their newest family member, a little Yorkie named Twinkie. She weighs all of 1 1/2 pounds.
*****Darryl and Sharon Weisenbaugh went on a cruise for their 40th anniversary this past week. Waymon and Sandi Lewis helped them celebrate. They went to Progresso and Cozumel. It was the first cruise for all of them and they had a lot of fun.
*****While on a shopping trip to San Antonio on Monday night, Joy Watson, Robyn Henderson and Pat Dildine ate dinner at BJ’s Restaurant off Highway 281 N. Right there across the room was Dwight and Brenda Brodbeck. They had come to meet their son David and his wife for dinner. Dwight and Brenda are spending a few days in Johnson City away from their home in Fairfield.
*****While Louise Paterson was in Kentucky last week she forgot how cold the colder weather can make you feel. Her sister and her husband were walking outside with a short sleeve shirt at 34 degrees and Louise was still freezing in long sleeves and a fleece. She guesses she’s a Texan now when anything lower than 50 makes you feel cold. Louise and her mom spent most of their time in the house with the heat on. She is doing better although her eyesight is failing but she is off the oxygen all the time. They had a nice visit. Another bit of news is that Kim and Robbie will have another son in March joining Ben and Joey. There are a total of seven boys in their family now. Where are all the little girl great grand children?
*****You may have noticed the new Lights Spectacular billboards coming into town. With the help of Lewis Eckenrode and his helpers, Felix, Sam and John, Mike Stewart, Porter Dunnaway, Alton Moreland and Rhonda Stell, the billboards were installed Sunday and Monday. The new highway banners and city Christmas lights were hung by the PEC crew. Thanks!
*****The light elves were busy Saturday at the Courthouse. David Schneider, James Deal, Mack Sanders, June Dahmann and Rhonda Stell completed the Courthouse decorations. There will be another work day Saturday the 22nd to install the tree inside and complete the yard decorations. Come on down for some fun and get into the holiday spirit!
*****Our condolence’s and prayers are with the family and friends of Donna Barnett. Donna will be missed by all her PEC friends.

*****Pat Smith had orders to drive wife, Cynthia to Ronnie’s BBQ as soon as she recovered from cataract surgery this past Wednesday for one of his fabulous hamburgers that you can only get on Wednesday. In a story she wrote last week she inadvertently left out the fact that Wednesday is hamburger day at Ronnie’s. Do any of you remember when Ronnie had sandwiches made up and put in the cooler? We used to get one called a pickle sandwich but it was actually bologna and pickle with mayo and mustard on white bread. We liked those! Sorry about that Ronnie and Cindy.
*****You might be a Johnson City native if you remember the flood of 1952 that washed away the Highway 281 bridge over the Pedernales River.

*****Tip for the week: 5 things to do with vinegar – [1]. Clean a coffeemaker with 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water. [2]. Soak clothes in 1 part vinegar 1 part cold water for 15 minutes to prevent colors from running. [3]. Pour vinegar on upshoots of grass & weeds to kill them. [4]. Perk up soggy leafy vegetables by soaking them in 2 cups cold water mixed with 1 tblsp vinegar for 10 minutes, then rinse & dry. [5]. To avoid moldy cheese, soak a cloth in vinegar, wrap around hard cheese and seal in an airtight ziptop bag.
