Last Tuesday the library travelers boarded the bus in front of the old library to travel to Fredericksburg to tour the Nimitz Museum of the Pacific War. It was a self guided tour, and at 11 a.m. we gathered outside to participate in the Veteran’s Day ceremony put on by the museum. This was very meaningful, all the service women and service men that served and are serving were honored. There was a 21 gun salute and taps was played to end the program. We then boarded the bus and drove to the Marketplaz to enjoy a picnic lunch under Texas blue skies. This is always a special time to visit and talk about the upcoming events for the library.

Johnson City Reads will have the first discussion Tuesday Jan. 6th at the new library, the book is titled “The Chosen” and the review will be lead by Bill Voron. Feb. 3, we will be reading “The Angle of Repose” with the discussion being led by Liz Manning. Both of these reviews are earlier than our usual J.C. Reads, so mark your calendars. The books should be available at the library soon.

Trips, do we have some exciting trips planned for the New Year. On January 13th we will travel to Austin to the Blanton Fine Art Museum. Hold on to your hats for this next trip, a very special event, we will be traveling to the Dallas Museum of Art to view the King Tut exhibit on February 17th. The bus will leave Johnson City at 7 a.m and return at 7:30 p.m., you will need to bring a sack lunch and money for dinner on the way back from Dallas. You can sign up for all these trips at the library now so don’t hesitate...get on board now!!

In March we will be traveling to Austin once again to the Bob Bullock Museum of Texas History. Hope you have those new calendars and mark all these dates so you don’t miss out on any of these opportunities.
