The LBJ boys & girls cross country teams competed in their final tune up before the district meet on October 29 by running at the Bandera cross country meet this past Wednesday, October 22. The meet had runners participating from all classifications 1A thru 5A. LBJ competed in the varsity boys and girls division, the JV boys division and 7th grade girls division.
In the varsity boys race, Jesus Sanchez completed the 3 mile course in a time of 18 minutes 40 seconds, which placed him 64th out of 179 runners. In the varsity girls division, Kelya Jureczki placed 29th out of 182 runners with a time of 13 minutes 3 seconds over the 2 mile course. This was her best race time of the year.
In the 7th grade girls division, LBJ Middle School placed all 3 of their runners in the top 30 out of 98 competitors. Brooke Wood medaled with a time of 14 minutes 17seconds, for an 8th place finish, Whitney Wood placed 18th and also medaled with a time of 14 minutes 44 seconds. Kiley Wood finished 28th with a time of 15 minutes 34 seconds. All 3 girls ran their best time of the season.
The JV boys team finished 12th in the team standings. Team members included Sergio Alvarado, Ryan Franklin, Cole Roemer, Adam Lefford, Aaron Humphrey, Jorge Regino, Dylan Carter, Fidel Coronilla, Dakotah Nagy, Zach Reveal, Eddie Salas, John Leslie, Luke Neely & Michael Zurovec. Roemer was the top finisher for the Eagles with a 43rd place finish out of 122 runners. His time was 20 minutes 39 seconds over the 3 mile course. The other top 50 finisher for the Eagles, in 46th place, was Regino with a time of 20:46.
LBJ will run at the district meet on Wednesday afternoon, October 29 at Comfort High School.
