Grab your boots and don your cowboy hat on Saturday, Nov. 8 for the Second Annual Cowboy Up for Kids event, benefiting the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center and child victims in the Center’s seven county service area. Cowboy Up for Kids will be held from 6-10pm at Boulder Creek Farms, located seven miles east of Marble Falls on FM 1431. Tickets are $100 per person with all proceeds benefiting HCCAC, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. For tickets and information call 512-756-2607.

Participants will enjoy a full evening of “good ol’ cowboy fun” with a steak dinner provided by Eddie Eppler Chuck Wagon Productions, followed by music, dancing and entertainment with K.R. Wood & His Cowboy Band. The Boots & Blackjack Casino will be open all evening, along with chances to win raffles and bid on some “aces high” items at the live and silent auctions.

“Cowboy Up for Kids is an important fund-raiser for the Center,” said Deborah Keith, Executive Director for the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center. “Despite our record-high case numbers this year, we recently lost an $82,000 grant. Cowboy Up for Kids proceeds are greatly needed to continue providing much-needed services for child victims of physical and sexual abuse. Everyone’s generous support is greatly appreciated and helps break the cycle of child abuse, one child at a time.”

A host of generous individuals and businesses donated raffle and auction items. Hot commodities on the raffle list include a 46” flat screen HDTV and DVD package donated by Gary and Ronda Turner, and a 1966 Winchester Centennial 66-inch 30-30 gun in its original packaging that was donated by HCCAC Board member Dick Bettle.

Live auction items include a Hill Country ranch hunt and deer processing package and an exciting Nilgai or cull buck hunt package on the historic King Ranch, donated by a generous but anonymous donor. Other live auction items include a Kona Cutaway acoustic guitar signed by Kinky Friedman and Steve Fromholtz donated by Brooks and Marion Blake, a Cedar Lodge Resort package donated by Tammy Peters, exquisite turquoise jewelry donated by Bluestar Jewelry in Lampasas; signed, limited edition artwork entitled “Tomboy and Cimmaron” created and donated by Kathleen Marie Studios of Johnson City; a gourmet dinner for ten, and much, much more.

The silent auction includes a variety of magnificent donations, from gift certificates for restaurants, shopping and photo collage DVDs to jewelry, rounds of golf, and collectibles.

Braggin’ rights abound for supporting the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center as an event sponsor or by purchasing individual tickets. About the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center

HCCAC provides services for seven Hill Country counties, including Blanco, Burnet, Lampasas, Llano, Mason, Mills, and San Saba. The Center provides no-cost services to physically and sexually abused children and their non-offending family members. In all of 2007, the Center provided services for 221 child victims.

This year there are more than 245 child victims to date. Unfortunately, with a troubled economy and rising food and gas prices, there are increasing numbers of child abuse cases.

The Center is a non-profit organization that provides child victim services as well as offering training to professionals and volunteers, and promotes public awareness of abuse issues through programs such as Yello Dyno, a research-based program that prepares, empowers and provides information to help protect children from child predators, bullies, potential abductors, and drug pushers.
