To the people of Johnson City:

We really appreciate the community for showing your support by coming out to our ribbon cutting and opening party at Kirchman Gallery 2 in Johnson City last Saturday. We are guessing that we had over 300 people in attendance over the course of the open house. We are grateful for the outpouring of support that you showed us as well as the praise you showered on Warren for his superb remodeling of the former WashBoard building at 305 E Main.

We were happy that the Mayor and City Council were represented as well as the Chamber of Commerce officers and members. You all made for a monumental Ribbon Cutting! Many of the Johnson City service club members were there including representatives of the Lions Club, the Friends of LBJ Park, the Women’s Club, the Garden Club, the Master Gardeners, and The Friends of the Library. There were no doubt others, that I have not mentioned.

Many of our fellow business operators were there including some from the Silver K Cafe, Century 21 Real Estate, the Black Spur Emporium, the Evening Star B&B, Chantilly Lace, Bella Gifts, Heart of Texas Rentals, the Friendly Bar, Carol Watson Studio Gallery, The Pecan Street Brewery and the Benini Sculpture Ranch. Again I am sure I missed mentioning some. Several of the artists which we represent at Kirchman Galleries were present including Eric Krause, Stephen Sumrall Orsak, Peter Mangan, Beth McElhaney, Doug Sweet, Jack Ramsey, L. Ray, Lotus McElfish and Catharine Cary.

We appreciate those who helped with the food including Kay & Al Pratt, Eileen Das, Donna Miles and Catharine Cary. Also thanks to our Austin friends who make up the band, the Love Vandals, who entertained our guests that evening.

If you did not make it to the opening please come by and visit. We are open at both locations from Thursday through Monday. We have many new artists (including many pieces of one-of-a-kind jewelry) at the new location and still feature exhibitions which change every 6 weeks at our Nugent Street location. We look forward to seeing the rest of the friendly, supportive people of Johnson City in the near future.

Sincerely,

Susan Kirchman & Warren Vilmaire
