Twin sisters Sierra & Sheridan Hodge of Johnson City are members of the Vernon College women’s rodeo team that has dominated the fall schedule of the Southwest Region of College Rodeo.

The Southwest region consists of 12 universities and junior colleges located west of I-35 and includes two New Mexico colleges just across the border.

Of the four fall rodeos that were scheduled, the VC women’s team claimed three team championships and one reserve championship and now lead the SW Region with 1,525points. This is nearly double the amount of points earned by second place Tarleton State University with 885 points.

The rodeo schedule will take a break so competitors can concentrate on academics and class finals, but will resume in the spring with six scheduled rodeos.

At the conclusion of the season the top two men’s and women’s teams and the top three individual event finishers will qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo to be held in June in Casper, Wyoming.

If the VC women’s team performs well in the spring they could win the region and qualify for Nationals. The VC men’s team is currently ranked 5th.
