The Eagle football team continued district play by hosting the San Antonio Cole Cougars last Friday night, but came up short with a score of Cougars 35 – Eagles 14. The Cougars were a good team with good overall speed.

The Eagles used a new 2 back offensive formation that worked well on their first drive. This change allowed the quarterback more time to run the offensive. The Eagles were able to score on their first drive when Sophomore quarterback Cody Smith threw a 55 yard TD pass to Junior Cody Atwood who side-stepped two different defensive backs on his way to the end zone.

The other Eagle score came in the fourth quarter when quarterback Smith threw a 68 yard TD pass to Senior William Bullock. The Eagles had 11 first downs, 4 penalties for 30 yards. Quarterback Cody Smith was 4 completions in 10 attempts with 3 interceptions. Sophomore Kris McDonald caught 3 passes for 28 yards, Junior Cody Atwood 1 for 55 yds, William Bullock 1 for 68 yards. Senior Wade Pistole carried the ball 12 times for 32 yards, Cody Atwood went 9 carries for 73 yards, Cody Smith was 6 for 10 yards, Kris McDonald 1 for 4 and Sophomore Trent Rodriquez 1 for 2 yards. Kris McDonald also had 1 interception.
