The LBJ Cross Country boys and girls competed this past Saturday, October 18 at the Comfort meet. All runners for JC competed very well and had some high placements in their races.

In the varsity girls division, junior Kelya Jureczki placed 19th out of 97 runners finishing the 2 mile course in a time of 13 minutes, 19 seconds. She placed 3rd among all participants from our district that ran.

In the varsity boys division, senior Jesus Sanchez placed 32nd out of 106 runners completing the 3 mile course in a time of 17 minutes, 29 seconds. He placed 7th out of district runners in the race.

In the junior varsity boys division the team of Cole Roemer, Aaron Humphrey, Jorge Regino, Ryan Franklin, Adam Lefford, Sergio Alvarado, Michael Zurovec, Zach Reveal, Dakotah Nagy and Eddie Salas placed 8th with a total of 216 points. Roemer was the lead runner for the Eagles finishing 32nd overall out of 91 runners with a time of 19 minutes, 14 seconds. He was the top finisher for all schools in our district that competed. Humphrey finished 40th with a time of 19:47 and was 4th overall against district opponents. Regino was 42nd with a time of 19:56 and Franklin 43rd with a time of 20:03 placing 5th and 6th respectively against district teams. Adam Lefford was the 5th highest finisher for JC placing 59th completing the course in a time of 21 minutes. The JV course was also 3 miles in length.

In the 7th grade girls division the JC Eagles had all 3 of its runners finish in the top 30 out of 105 runners. Brooke Wood finished 16th overall in a time of 15:01, Whitney Wood was 25th in a time of 15:31 and Kiley Wood was 28th in a time of 15:39. Brooke Wood was 2nd, Whitney Wood was 3rd and Kiley Wood was 4th against schools in our district. The junior high girls race was 2 miles.

The Eagles will compete in the Bandera meet this Wednesday, October 22nd and at the district meet on Wednesday, October 29th. The district meet will also be held at Comfort. The tentative start times for the district meet races are as follows. JV boys at 1:30, varsity boys at 2:00, varsity girls at 3:00 and 7th grade girls at 3:30. Please come out and support your LBJ Eagle cross country runners as they prepare for district.
