*****A work day has been set to start putting lights on the Courthouse for Lights Spectacular. It will be Wednesday, October 22. The time will be from 7 am to 4:30 pm. PEC is helping during work hours so a weekday is the only time that a bucket and operator will be available. Cruz Lopez has offered to carry on in Alton Moreland’s footsteps. Alton and Rhonda Stell will be there also. If anyone can come down and help, just for a few hours or all day, it will be appreciated. They’ll break around 11:30 or so for lunch. They are going to try and meet at the warehouse a little after six on Tuesday evening and take the totes down the night before. There will be a couple of Saturday work days also.

*****According to the grapevine, Roy Burdett had breakfast with his wife and several other moms last Wednesday morning at El Charro. (I am sure he was enlightened.)

*****Diane Beagle is leaving on Oct. 22nd to visit her sister, Bettie and her mother, Lucille in Colorado Springs. Diane’s mother is in a special home for Alzheimer patients there and will be 89 years old in Jan. She will be staying with her sister, Bettie Jo, and visiting with her only niece, Kandel Hess along with her family. Diane is very excited to be able to get off to visit with family. Her sister gave her the air fare as a birthday gift (last month). Diane says “It’s hard to pack, as she’s talking “snow” and I’m wearing shorts!!!!! Ha!”

*****On 10/1/08 Preston Garrett Craig III, (Preston) was born. Congratulations to grandparents Tom and Donna Felps and Corrie Craig Furber! All are home and doing great. Oh, yes, parents Garrett and Tatum Craig of Marble Falls had something to do with this event.

*****Recover soon to John Kinchen. On Tuesday John had surgery in San Antonio.

*****Gertrude Whittington and Joy Watson attended a concert at the First Baptist Church in Fredericksburg on Saturday evening. “The Grand Ole Gospel Sing” was an exciting blend of talent from San Marcos, Centerpoint, Kerrville, Stonewall, Johnson City and San Antonio. Our very own Henry Young, Pam Lawson and Drew Walker performed wonderfully!

*****Shane Buck, his dad, and a friend from work in San Antonio have been in Colorado this past week hunting for elk. You will have to ask the guys for more details.

*****Larry Earney, brother of Mike Earney, is visiting Mike and Mary from Iowa for a few weeks. They took him of course to see new grandson Noah in Centerpoint and to Katy to visit their oldest grandson Stephen Grossheim.

*****You might be a Johnson City native if you remember going to a dance at Mountain Top.

*****Tip for the week: Do you have children or grandchildren. Make each child their own personal cookbook to take with them when they leave the nest. The cookbooks contain all of their quick and easy meal favorites. For each, use a two-inch binder and protector sheets.
