Well, Timmy, Chelsie and myself headed out Sunday to the quaint little town of Bandera. Why, you ask? We were going to a quilt show of course. Since none of my sisters were with us, we missed the short cut and ended up on the very, very, very, did I mention very, winding road to Medina. After the initial sea sickness feeling wore off, we had an absolutely wonderful drive for such a beautiful fall afternoon. The scenery was wonderful. On our way through Medina, we noticed that they were having their fall event there at the Apple Orchard. Children were building scarecrows and carving pumpkins and taking wagon rides through the orchard. It looked like they were having a great time. Chelsie wanted to stop there but we were on a quilting mission. We traveled on to Bandera, about 11 miles on down the road and found the short cut road that we could have taken.
The Quilt Show was held in a church facility there in Bandera. It was rather small with about 30 quilts. They were very pretty and all different sizes. One in particular that was titled “Centennial” caught my eye. It consisted of many 4 inch blocks and was a very large quilt. They were all nice, but it did not take long to view them. They had three vendors and of course I had to shop some. I bought chances on their donation quilt and I am still waiting for that phone call to tell me I won. I guess some other lucky person won but my motto is “Keep trying”, so I am waiting for the next quilt show so I can try again. Another motto for this story might be, “Don’t always look for the short cut, because you never know what you might miss along the way”. We had a great time and enjoyed the afternoon trip.
Happy Quilting,Janie
