The Johnson City Chamber of Commerce TownScape Task Force awarded two Hometown Hero Awards this week as part of the “Catch the Spirit” Campaign.

Co-chairs Suzanne Milner and Norma Honeycutt presented Pat Hartman with an award for improvements made at Bella Gifts, a shop located on Highway 290.

“Pat stepped in and bought the shop from former owner Carol Sorenson,” said Milner. “Carol initiated the improvements with fresh paint and Pat continues to enhance the business and the property, making it an attractive community asset.”

June Dahmann also received a Hometown Hero Award for enhancing the appearance of the Green’s drugstore building.

“June has done a wonderful job, adding cheerful displays in the Green’s Drugstore windows. It really adds some character and flair to the building,” Honeycutt said.

The “Catch the Spirit” Campaign completed a number of projects during the summer, including awarding a number of Hometown Hero Awards, painted the Courthouse Annex platform, painted community benches and planters, improved the landscaping in numerous areas of the community, and continues to encourage Johnson City residents and Blanco County citizens to catch the spirit and continuously improve our community.
