*****Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park vehicular access to and from the Johnson Settlement via the east Settlement Road entrance is closed. Ingress and egress is via S. Avenue N and Back 40 Road.

*****Cami Butler and girls Lacey and Ashley went to Oklahoma for a week to visit family.

*****Lacey Butler and her team 12 U (12 and under) Freeze of Austin placed third in nationals in Beaumont recently.

*****Our thoughts and prayers are with Tillie Lindemann. She has returned from the funeral of Betty Jean in La Grange.

*****Patricia Hartmann and daughters Isabelle and Laura went on a trip to Austin and Port Aransas to celebrate Patricia’s birthday. They stayed with Patricia’s niece, Jessica Johnson, in Austin on Wednesday - where they celebrated with a shopping trip and a nice lunch at The Clay Pot (an Indian restaurant in downtown Austin). On Thursday Patricia and the girls traveled to Port Aransas. Hurricane Dolly did not do any damage in Port Aransas, but there was a lot of seaweed on the beach, and the Gulf stayed choppy. They stayed at the Sandcastle Condominiums - and were happy that the condo had such a nice pool. They ate out at several good seafood restaurants in Port Aransas. The girls especially enjoyed “The Desserted Island”, a local ice cream shoppe. They stayed in Port Aransas until Monday (7/28/08) afternoon.

*****The July meeting of the North Blanco County Emergency Services District was held on Monday, July 28th at the Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department. Contracts between the District and the service entities of North Blanco Emergency Medical Services, Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department, and the Round Mountain Fire Department were discussed. Also on the agenda were the proposed budgets for the next fiscal year.

*****Around twenty kids from The Community Church of The Hills left yesterday for Camp Eagle Quest. They will be gone for a week that is sure to be filled with lots of things to do.

*****First United Methodist Church Reverend Sid Spiller and his wife, Marge, have a new member of the family. Lady B, a long haired, miniature dachshund has joined them in their home in Johnson City.

*****Get well wishes to Angie Stearns! Angie had hip replacement surgery on Tuesday so will be recuperating for awhile.

*****Harry and Patty Carpenter were so blessed with a visit from three of their grandchildren. Evan, Luke, and Claire Stevens spent 3 days with them. They had a ball going bowling, playing Chicken Foot, going to Hill Country Fellowship for the Bible School Festival, visiting with Grandpa Mike, and playing more Chicken Foot!! Their cousin, Erin O’Brien spent one night and they had a great time together. And you guessed it, more Chicken Foot!

*****Shay Zbytovsky celebrated her 5th birthday at her home with family and friends on Saturday. She had a safari themed party, but mainly the kids just played around and jumped on the trampoline.

*****Charlotte and Justin DeBusk were blessed with twin boys born July 26th at Seton Medical Hospital in Austin. Jayson Jet, born ten minutes after parents arrived at the hospital, is 15 inches long and weighs 2.3 lbs. Jaxson Jag, born 5 minutes later is 16 inches long and weighs 3 lbs. Babies were welcomed by sister, Jaycee, grandparents, Joe and Peggy Stewart, Fred and Timmie DeBusk and a host of family and friends.

*****Bobby Fenton turned the big 6-0 this past Tuesday. If you see him around town give him a big birthday hello.

*****Rochelle Pemberton is back in Johnson City after her surgery. She has stayed a few days with her daughter Tracy Ulrich and family.

*****Carrie Hacker, Kaitlin Hacker, Madison Hacker, and Mary Garrett treated Cynthia Smith to a fabulous birthday lunch on Monday, July 28th at Lantana Grill in the beautiful Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott. The food was wonderful and the hotel and surrounding gardens were stunning.
