It is getting close to Quilt Show time. Johnson City Quilter’s Guild will be having their own quilt show in September. September 20th to be exact. The ladies at Johnson City Quilt Guild are working really hard and have been trying to get the word out about their show. The quilt show is titled “Then and Now” in conjunction with Blanco County’s 150th Birthday. We are looking for vintage quilts to display along with a story about the quilt and any history of Blanco County if available. If you have anything we could use, please contact Charlotte Matthews at 868-0940 or Janie Moreland at 868-7361. We would love to show off the quilt your great-grandmother made and tell the story behind it.

If you would like to enter a quilt, vintage or new, you can check out the Chamber website at LBJCountry.com and print out an entry form. Deadline for entries is September 5, 2008. There is no charge to enter quilts and admission to the show is by donation. The Johnson City Quilters Guild has put together 3 lovely quilts: one is full-queen and two are lap size. We will be selling chances on these beginning August 1st and the drawing will be at the end of the day on September 20th. You will not need to be present to win.

Johnson City Quilter’s Guild is made up of lovely ladies from Blanco and Johnson City. We would love for you to join our group. You do not need to live in Blanco County to be a member of our guild. Several of our members are also members in Fredericksburg and different places. It just depends on how far you want to travel. Our next meeting will be tonight at the Catholic Church at 7:00 pm. Come on out and join us.

We will be saying more about this in later articles and we hope you will support your local quilt guild by coming out to see all the beautiful quilts. Mark September 20th on your calendar now. More about place and time later.
