LBJ High School junior Melinda Holdridge was recently invited to attend the Abeline Christian University’s Honors College Summer Academy. During her week long course, she will participate in debate and will be taught how to debate by National Champion Speech and Debate team. To be accepted in this program shows an academic talent and a drive to excel. Melinda has shown these traits for some time. Johnson City debate coach John Sherrill said, “I’m very excited for Melinda. This is an opportunity that very few students qualify for – but even fewer are accepted for. I think the skills and knowledge that Melinda will acquire will be invaluable and it’s an experience she’ll never forget.” Melinda plans to participate with Eagle debate her senior year. With this training as a base, there looks to be great things for her in the future.
