A preacher gave an unusual sermon using a peanut as a visual aid as he talked about evidence of God in creation. One of the members greeted him at the door and said, “Very interesting, preacher, I never expected to learn so much from a nut.” Paul the apostle was one of the great teachers of New Testament times. In Acts 17 we read that he “reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and giving evidence that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead” (Acts 17:2-3). His method was to ‘reason’, his source was the ‘Scriptures’, and his subject was the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul was once called a ‘mad man’ (Acts 26:24), but in reality his words were words of “sober truth” (Acts 26:25). True Christianity is reasonable, backed by the most authentic and verifiable message the world has every known (the Bible), and about the only perfect man that every lived, the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ. We can learn, even from a so called ‘mad man’, if we honestly investigate the message with an open heart. Come and hear the word of the Lord. When Nathanael heard of Jesus, he said, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see” (John 1:46). Indeed, come and see for yourself.
