The Community Garden Club met last Thursday for their first meeting of the New Year, welcoming members was President Lynda McDow. The club met in the new courthouse annexes Hoppe room, which is part of the district courtroom. After a business meeting, Todd Swift presented a program on Gardening in the drought, reminding all of us with the recent rainfall we were not out of drought conditions. We were shown how to build raised gardens, how to best water and care for these gardens and receive the most rewards for our efforts and resources. Hostesses for this meeting were, Barbara Counts, Candy Falatko, Joann Flinn, Lynda McDow, and Norma Honeycutt, the door prize was won by Lynda McDow. Our next meeting will be February 9th, Lotus McElifish will be presenting Watercolors of Rare Plants and Flowers. If you are interested in joining us please call Lynda McDow at 868-4371, if you are already a member and haven’t been to a meeting in awhile, we hope to see you in February. This year marks the 100th birthday of Lady Bird Johnson, a charter member of the Garden club, a proud organization that enjoys and works to beautify and serve the Johnson City community!!
