Discovery students built equipment to help them solve mysteries in outer space. This group’s robot can perform many functions to look for aliens on Mars.

The spring session for the Johnson City Library’s Discovery Academy is about to start. Discovery Academy is an afterschool enrichment program in science and math. Students learn through hands-on experiments and building prototypes. Every Tuesday and Thursday, as soon as school is out, class starts with a healthy snack. We meet in the middle school portables for the afternoon fun and students are ready to be picked up at 5:15. Any 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade student is welcome. There is a small fee, but scholarships are available. Registration is going on at the Johnson City library until January 23 and class starts January 24. The Johnson City Library is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00pm, and Saturday from 9:00 am to 2:00pm. This spring our focus is Earth, mapping, and of course we always have a spectacular final project. So don’t delay, join Discovery Academy today! Also, don’t forget tocome see what else is going on at your local Johnson City Library! For more information contact Maggie Goodman at 830-868-4469.
