Johnson City Quilter’s Guild met on April 24th at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with about 15 members present. We collected our nine-patch blocks for our donation quilt for our quilt show in September. We had three visitors, Carlene Hale, Nancy Talley, and Freda Baber and they joined our guild before they left.

Show and Tell was great, Marjorie showed a pink and green quilt that she had finished for Janie. Anjanette shared a quilt of bright colors that she was making for a child that was going to have surgery. Irene showed a beautiful nine-patch scrap quilt in bright colors and the block of the month quilt that she won at the Veriens Quilt Guild done in greens and wine colors. Darlene showed us curtains that they are making for the Orphanage. Jane showed a beautiful flowerbed runner for the foot of the bed. Louise brought all her goodies from her Quilt Hop win and she shared with each person there. We got to pick one item and keep it. Wasn’t that great?

Darlene Wood presented the program on Quilting in LaForma Village in Mexico. It was great. She showed the women how to make a nine-patch quilt and they seem to have done very well for their first time out. The door prize was won by Jane Murrell. Jane gave us a challenge block to make from our stash.

Before leaving for the night, we drew for the Relay for Life Quilt and Wendy Smith from Blanco won the quilt. We called her from there and she was so excited to have won the quilt. If you recall, Wendy is the person responsible for the Relay for Life getting started in Blanco County. The Johnson City Quilter’s Guild made $1400.00 for the Cure for Cancer this year and we were pleased also to give Wendy this money.

Our next meeting will be Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 7:00 pm at the Catholic Church in Johnson City. Please join us and see what we are up to now.
