We had a good turn out for the free hearing test by Alamo Hearing. They will return in about three months to do another FREE hearing test, so watch right here for news of their return.

Our lawn care service came and what a difference it has made already in our little community. Everything is mowed and edged and it looks great around here.

I had a son get married over the weekend. His wedding was beautiful as was his bride. It was in Burnet along the river walk. I wish them well in the future ahead.

The JCVFD had their fish fry this past weekend. I heard that this was a huge success.

Just thinking about that fried fish makes me hungry.

Our Third Friday Luncheon has been canceled due to kitchen remodeling. It will resume on June 20th, 2008. This is always a good time for us to get together and share in each other’s recipes. We have some awesome cooks up here.

Everybody, mark your calendar for May 19th, 2008. CAFB (Capital Area Food Bank) will be back on May 19th, 2008 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at 304 South Avenue F, Johnson City, Texas. This was well accepted last month and we are hoping for a better turn out this month. Please feel free to join us in this service. This is free.

Also next week on May 20th, 2008 is the date for the service that has come to our area and it is Catholic Charities of Central Texas. Catholic Charities of Central Texas is providing application materials and assistance in completing applications for CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program), Medicaid, Food Stamps, TANF (Temporary Assistance For Needy Families), Medicare Savings Program, and Long-Term Care Services. This service will be available at the Johnson City Housing Authority Community Room located at 304 S. Ave F, Johnson City, Texas. Persons may schedule appointments or be seen as walk-ins every 3rd Tuesday of the month from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm. For appointments or additional information contact Juanita Vargas, Outreach Worker at (512) 753-9738. This is a great service and free to you. You do not have to live at the authority, just live in the Blanco County area. We have had a wonderful response with this and we hope that you take advantage of this with us.
