The Third Annual Hill Country SPCA Dog Trot 5K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, May 17. The activities begin at 7:30am with the fun run at 9am and the 1-5K walk starting at 9:15am. The starting line is located behind the Hill Country SPCA building, located on Highway 16 S in Fredericksburg.

“I will be there signing copies of my children’s book, “Puppy Tales: The Adventures of Adam the Australian Shepherd,” stated local Johnson City resident, Kelly Carper Polden. A portion of the day’s book sales will be donated to the HCSPCA.

Day of race registration for both events will begin at 7:30 AM. On-line registration will be available at active.com after March 17, and registration forms can either be downloaded from the website at www.hillcountryspca.com/upcomingevents or they can be picked up at the Trudy Brune Hill Country SPCA. (Located at 2981 State Highway 16 South, Fredericksburg), starting on the same date.

Pre-registration is $15 until May 5, and $20 after that date. The registration fee includes a tee shirt for the two-legged participant and special Dog Trot bandannas for four-legged runners and walkers.

According to the website, “An expanded midway is [also] planned this year. Dudley’s Diner will also be back, along with a Photo Finish for fun commemorative photos of the event. Many local businesses will also be present, offering animal- and fitness-related items for sale, The Nomads will present a dog agility demonstration, and Habitat for Horses and Wildlife Rescue representatives plan to be present to discuss their programs to rescue and rehabilitate other needy Hill Country animals.”
