The Community Garden Club met last Thursday in the lovely home of Kay Culp, it was our annual meeting and Installation of the new officers. Donna McCormick installed the new officers, President Pearl Hedlund, Vice President, Jean Anderson, correspondence secretary, Marlene Edwards, and recording secretary Chelita Riley, Treasurer, Carlene Hale.
Outgoing President Diane Beagle turned the meeting over to the new President, and the meeting proceeded with reports from the various committees, especially rewarding news were the results of our booths during the Wildflower Festival, over $2,000, good work ladies!! We have a new Chairperson for the Planters, Janette Hoppe, and Ola Matus as co-chairperson.
Under new business it was brought up that our planters are looking a little less for wear, so the club voted to furnish paint, or stain, and labor to refurbish the planters in June. A list of ladies signed up to be a part of this project, when the day is picked we will meet, paint, and have a picnic afterwards in the park. The Garden club doesn’t meet during the summer months, but they continue working on various projects, recycling, crafts, and maintaining the downtown planters and the 281/290 intersection.
The door prize was won by Patty Elliott, meeting adjourned and delicious refreshments were served by hostesses, Donna Sultemeier, Janette Hoppe, Ola Matus, Mary Ann Thurlkill, and Kay Culp. The club will meet in September with our very fun annual White Elephant sale, so ladies be collecting your treasures to auction this summer, and keep those plants watered, and see all of you September 11th. If you want to become a member of the club give Marlene Edwards a call at 868-7471 to have your name added to the mailing list, dues are $10, and everyone is welcome!
