The Lady Eagles had a challenging week against some tough teams. The Varsity continued early season by playing Evant last Tuesday night. They had a fairly easy win in four games: 25-23, 17-25, 24-26, and 25-19. Friday night Johnson City hosted Ingram in their very first meeting. Although the ladies fought hard to win, they fell: 15-25,12-25, and 19-25. Some great defense was played by Jessie Rios (5 digs) and Whitney Wood (6 digs) against the hard hitting team. The score did not reflect the incredible effort and defense against this challenging team.

The Varsity also participated in a Varsity tournament in Fredericksburg –again playing mostly larger teams. Although they did pick up a win in the tournament, they are still preparing for District play. "The ladies get a lot out of this top notch tournament – and it only makes them prepare better for District games, " said Coach Voron.

Junior Varsity

The JV played three tough games against Evant but fell short with scores: 26-24, 21-25 and 20-35. Tori Mahar and Taylor Kay were very strong from the serve line while Lacey DeLancey and Katelyn Barrientes had some incredible saves from the back row.

The JV girls also played a very talented Ingram squad on Friday night and fell short with scores: 22-25 and 4-25. Shelby Conlon had some crucial plays at the net while Kiley Wood made a strong contribution with serving and hitting.

"We really played well in the first game, but seemed to run out of steam in Game 2" said Coach Smith. "When we develop some consistency in our offense, we will be a force to be reckoned with!"

The ladies will play Boerne on Friday night in Johnson City –JV at 4:00 & Varsity at 5:00 –come see them compete!
