SAN ANTONIO – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Wiser Construction, LLC will begin work adding shoulders and guardrail to various locations in Gillespie, Blanco and Kendall Counties. The 32 mile project on RM 783, RM 1623, FM 2093 and RM 1888 is scheduled to begin Thursday, August 26, 2010.

The $ 3 million project is scheduled for completion in the Summer of 2011.

"Safety improvements such as adding shoulders, left-turn lanes, cable and concrete barrier in divided highway medians, have played a vital role in the significant drop in highway fatalities," states Darla Laughter, TxDOT’s public information officer.
