Well, here is another week and can you believe the awesome weekend we had? Cool mornings that just take your breath away. We could use some rain and some seems to slowly be slipping into the forecast. We should maybe say a prayer or two for some rain. So this is what we are praying for. Rain is liquid precipitation, as opposed to non-liquid kinds of precipitation, such as snow, hail and sleet. Rain requires the presence of a thick layer of the atmosphere to have temperatures above the melting point of water near and above the Earth’s surface. On Earth, it is the condensation of atmospheric water vapor into drops of water heavy enough to fall, often making it to the surface. Now hands together everybody!

Last week brought us to the celebration of LBJ’s Birthday. This week the office will be in observance of Labor Day. Traditionally, Labor Day is celebrated by most Americans as the symbolic end of the summer. The holiday is often regarded as a day of rest and parades. Speeches or political demonstrations are more low-key than May 1 Labor Day celebrations in most countries. Although, events held by labor organizations often feature political themes and appearances by candidates for office, especially in election years. Forms of celebration include: picnics, barbecues, fireworks displays, water sports, and public art events. Our Maintenance Personnel, Kemp Elliott, attended a Texas Housing Association 2010 Annual Conference in Houston, Texas. From our understanding it, involved courses on HUD Plans, priorities, and effective communication with all involved. Maintenance can be looked at from another perspective. Complying with HUD rules is not always easy, but is a must for a Housing Authority employee. This brings into play the inspections that are done each year with every tenant. Every year there seems to be a new rule that we must abide with. Thanks to the conference that is presented each year, the Housing Authority is ready.

Our tenant, Joyce Segura, has moved to Kerrville to be near her family. She has a son there along with two grandsons. We really miss you Joyce, but we know you are in good hands.

The Food Pantry will be at the ANNEX on September 8th, 2010. We will have the Bible Study here on September 9th, 2010 @ 4:00 pm. Remember that we love visitors and we do our study as we visit and snack on FREE snacks. Come out and join us.

Food for thought: Snowflakes are one of nature’s most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together…. Vista M. Kelly
