It is Friday morning, and a beautiful day. I got up and headed to the big city of Stonewall, Texas. My new found cousin and some of her quilting friends were staying at the Quilt Retreat there. I had been invited before to check it out and did not make it,, so I really wanted to get there this time. It was a beautiful drive.
Upon arriving, I discovered a beautiful located retreat. The views were awesome and the house itself is very nicely done with lots of quilting space and quilt walls. It made me feel so relaxed and tranquil. I was only going to visit for an hour but it was lunchtime before I knew it. I was invited to stay because the hostess had prepared for four people and one was not able to come. I had a wonderful lunch of Tortilla Soup and Spinach and Strawberry Salad. It was fabulous.
We went up to the big house for lunch. It is separate from the retreat, but houses 4 more guests. Kay and her husband are great and they really know how to make you feel at home. I was checking out the place for a hopeful quilt retreat for our guild. They only accommodate 8 people at a time, so we may have to go in two sessions, but trust me, it will be worth it, I will volunteer to go twice.
I got several great tips from Shirley and her friends. I also got to see the projects they were working on and projects they had made for each other. It was a great day and it was almost 2:00 pm before I headed on my long drive home. NOT! It was very easy to get to and just a nice place to be if you are a quilter, or not.
Happy Quilting, Janie
