Well, here we are at our porch. We have a tenant, Ethel Moreland, who has moved closer to her family. We really miss her as she was a good friend to many here. We have another tenant, Joyce Segura, who has moved to be close to her family as well. We wish them well and we wish lots of happiness at their new digs.
The community lost a very dear soul, Boysie Maenius. He was a wonderful gentleman who never met a stranger. To his family, we send our sympathy and may you know that your memories will sustain you as you remember a man with a big heart and an even bigger smile. God bless you all.
Our third Friday Luncheon went off like a big party. We had excellent food and even greater laughter and friendships.
This weekend also brought us the Blanco County Fair and Rodeo. I am sure they had an excellent crowd and that it was a huge success. I drove by. Needless to say it was too hot for me to get out, but the crowd looked huge.
Our Bible Study will be on August 26th, 2010 @ 4:00 pm @ our community room. Snacks are provided and open conversation is what we are all about. Please feel FREE to stop in @ 304 S Ave F.
Our office will be closed in observance of LBJ’s Birthday on August 27th, 2010. I know I touched base on the subject of Medicare and LBJ last year, however, I still think about LBJ every time I use my Medicare Card. Medicare is a social insurance program administered by the United States government, providing health insurance coverage to people who are aged 65 and over, or who meet other special criteria. The program also funds residency training programs for the vast majority of physicians in the United States. Medicare operates as a single-payer health care system.[1]
The Social Security Act of 1965 was signed into law on July 30, 1965, by President Lyndon B. Johnson as amendments to Social Security legislation. At the bill-signing ceremony President Johnson enrolled former President Harry S. Truman as the first Medicare beneficiary and presented him with the first Medicare card, and his wife Bess, the second.[2] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicare_(United_States)
Food for thought: Looking back, I have this to regret, that too often when I loved, I did not say so. ….David Grayson
