The Texas Academy of Career Training (TexACT) will be commencing classes on August 30, 2010. The brand new career school, located at 706 4th Street in Marble Falls , will be offering both day and evening courses for Nurse Assistants. At the conclusion of the 80 classroom hour course, students will take the state exam and qualify as Certified Nurse Assistants. CNAs work in nursing homes, hospitals, doctor’s offices and for home health agencies.

Tuition for the Nurse Assistant Class is $750 with a $70 fee for books. After completing the course, students will take the Certification Test which costs $83 payable to the State of Texas.

The health care field is the fastest growing sector of job growth nationwide. Becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant is the first step on the ladder to a career in health care. TexACT offers the state mandated 80 hour course, which includes subjects such as patient care, basic nursing skills, psychosocial effects of aging, and a clinical rotation in a nursing home. After taking this course and passing the certification exam, graduates will have all the skills and certifications necessary to begin work immediately.
