I got up Thursday morning, made a few phone calls, and we were on our way. New Braunfels, here we come! Quilt Haus was having a sale. We had been told about the sale on several occasions and how great it was going to be. They had over 2000 bolts of fabric on sale ranging from $3.88 to $5.88 per yard.

We arrived a little early and decided to set in the car until a line started to form. They opened right on time, at 10:00 am. The sale location was about 4 doors down from the store in a vacant storefront. This made it less crowded than if it had been in their regular store. We went in and started picking out fabric.

I found several colors that I felt I needed to add to my stash and let me tell you, so did everyone else. I stood in line for over 30 minutes to get my nine pieces of fabric cut. We had a good time, visiting with those who were in line with us.

While talking to the lady behind me, I mentioned I was from Johnson City and told her about our quilt show coming up on September 18th. The lady in front of me heard us and turned around and asked, "Did the little quilt shop in Johnson City close?" I’ve been closed a year now, but I told her "yes" and that I had been the owner and how sad I was to have had to close. She was sad too. All in all we had a fun day.

I am still in the race to see who has the most fabric when we leave this old world. I think I am well on my way to being the winner. Later that afternoon my upper arms were killing me and it finally donned on me that it was from standing in line for 30 minutes and holding 9 bolts of fabric. Was it worth it? What a stupid question to ask a quilter.

Happy Quilting, Janie
