Have you always wanted to make a difference in your community, but didn’t know where to start? All around the Texas, women are finding that a crown can serve as a megaphone to promote a cause or issue.

If you are married and will be between the ages of 21 and 56 as of July 1, 2011, applications are now being accepted for the title of 2011 "Mrs. Blanco County!" Mrs. Blanco County will have the honor of representing her area at the Mrs. Texas International Pageant, to be held at the Lila Cockrell Theatre in San Antonio, Texas, March 11 – 13, 2011.

The woman selected as "Mrs. Blanco County" will become an ambassador from the Blanco County area and will receive an official title and sash!

The woman crowned Mrs. Texas will receive a prize package valued at over $15,000 and the opportunity to represent Texas at the 2011 Mrs. International Pageant in Chicago.

The American Heart Association is the official charity of the Mrs. Texas International Pageant. In 2008, the International Pageants joined the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement and each state titleholder will champion heart disease as a national platform in addition to promoting their own platform throughout the year.

Go Red for Women captures the energy, passion, and intelligence of women, to work collectively to wipe out heart disease – the No. 1 killer of women. While 1-in-30 American women die of breast cancer, almost 1-in-3 will die from cardiovascular disease. Our passion is to unite women in this fight. Our involvement in the movement can help save lives. For more information go to www.GoRedForWomen.org.

The current reigning "2010" Mrs. Texas is Natalie McLarty of Victoria, Texas. Natalie and her husband, Travis, have been married for fifteen years. Together, they have four children. As a mother and a wife, Natalie feels that it is her responsibility to set a good example. "Heart disease runs in my family" says McLarty "and 8.6 million women die from it every year. The truly amazing thing is that it is completely preventable." To that end, Natalie has dedicated her reign to encouraging families to "Get Fit and Stay Fit for Life". The mission of Natalie’s platform is to connect families to the American Heart Association and other community based organizations that will provide them with the tools necessary to become "heart healthy".

Mrs.’ contestants will compete in Interview, Fitness Wear, and Evening Gown. (There is no talent or swimsuit competition and no experience necessary!)

Married women living or working in Blanco County should write for a biography form:
