Ruby Lee Jones, 90, passed away Friday, August 6, 2010. Ruby was born February 18, 1920 to Joe & Rosa Preiss in New Braunfels, Texas. She married Casey Jones on May 27, 1941; they enjoyed 45 years together until his passing in 1986. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son Bennie Carroll Jones; brother Hilmer Preiss, Sr.; and sister Rose Marie Dean. Ruby is survived by two daughters, Dianna Maddoux and Bob Shifflett of Drury, MO; Angie Bergman and husband Dale of Marble Falls. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Casey Henry and wife Dawn of Lebanon, MO; Tammie Marrs and husband Paul of Johnson City; Cliff and Robin Bergman of Marble Falls, two great-grandchildren Haley and Hunter Henry, and her sister Elnora Brooks of San Antonio. Ruby is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.
Throughout her life Ruby was well known for her baking, sewing, crocheting, and her flowers; especially her cakes, baby booties, placemats and her gift for growing African violets. Ruby was a member of the Blanco County Extension Service Education Assn. Club for over 55 years where she won many awards for her crocheting on local and state levels. She was also very active with the clubs in the surrounding counties. Ruby was a very special lady who always had a smile and a "thank you" to give someone; she will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She was also a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blanco.
Pallbearers are Phil Rollins, Bubba Ussery, David Wagner, Bradley Wagner, Jack Esser, and Kevin Dabbs. Honorary Pallbearers are Hilmer "Junior" Preiss, Jr., George Schaefer, and Dr. John Thomas. Visitation is Monday 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Crofts Funeral Home, Blanco and the funeral service is at 11:00 AM, Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blanco. Interment will follow at the Blanco Cemetery.
