Hill Country Memorial Women, Infants & Children (WIC) will host a free, public health fair Thursday, Aug. 12.

The fair, which will be at the Fredericksburg WIC location at 140 Industrial Loop, Suite 3, will run from 9 a.m. to noon.

"We invite families to come and learn about our health programs for infants, children and moms during pregnancy," Nicole Spenrath, WIC director, said.

For the children, the health fair will include face painting and games, and the WIC staff will be serving refreshments for all guests.

Participating in the event will be Tina Gonzalez, breast-feeding peer counselor with WIC; Kim Thornton, registered dietitian, certified diabetes educator and trained breast-feeding educator with HCM Wellness Center; and Donna Lafferty, HCM Cancer Resource Center coordinator.

Other participants will include Any Baby Can, Crime Stoppers, Department of State Health Services, Early Childhood Intervention (ECI), HCM Community Health Clinic and the Salvation Army.

For more information on the health fair, call HCM WIC at 992-2555. Out-of-area residents may call toll-free at 1-800-347-9559.
