Wendell "Bob" Thomas passed from this life into the loving arms of Jesus Christ on Friday July 23, 2010.
He was born in Marble Falls, TX Dec 6, 1938 to Marvin and Lorene Thomas, played football for the Mustangs and graduated from Marble Falls High School in 1957. He married the love of his life on May 26, 1962 and they shared 48 years together. They had three children and five grandchilden. After raising their family in Pasadena, TX; they returned home to Johnson City for retirement in 2007. Bob loved to watch the wildlife and his farm animals from the front porch of his home and had dreamed of living there for many years. Anyone who knew Bob will remember his terrific, funny stories about the handicapped children he worked with after he retired from sales before moving to Johnson City. He enjoyed teasing with the boys and girls and protecting them in his "retirement job" as a bus monitor for the Pasadena School District.
He is survived by his wife Lucille Weirich Thomas; son, Jerry Thomas; daughters, Korrie Thomas; and Tracey Thomas; grandchildren Chelsea Holloway Beck, Austin Thomas, Courtney Holloway, Wesley Thomas, and Mathew Thomas as well as many cherished loved ones and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Crofts Funeral Home, Johnson City. Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 26 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Stonewall with burial to follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the Johnson City Library.
