On the road again. We headed to New Braunfels for their quilt show. If you have not been on Hwy. 46 lately, you need to make this trip. That area is growing by leaps and bounds, all the way into New Braunfels.

We went downtown, made the circle and headed to the Civic Center. Parking is always tight there. We found a spot under a shade tree. Going in we saw their donation quilt. It was very large, maybe King size and beautiful.

Several quilts caught my eye. One, a beautiful appliqué with hearts quilt that had been pieced and quilted in memory of someone’s sister who had lost the battle with cancer. This was a great quilt done in pale pinks. There were several done in reproduction fabrics, which are my favorite. For some reason there were lots of Pumpkin Quilts. They were very interesting.

We saw several friends there from Fredericksburg and one from our hometown. It is fun to see someone you know. Lots of the vendors have familiar faces also. The New Braunfels Guild had a Country Store selling things handmade and things people no longer needed such as quilting magazines, fabric remnants, patterns and etc.

Johnson City will be having a Country Store at their show on September 18, 2010. They are busy cleaning sewing rooms and finding that treasure someone may be looking for. Also, they are making handmade items to tempt you with.

We had a great day—three sisters looking at quilts and of course we can’t go to New Braunfels without stopping at the bakery. Cookies—Cookies—Cookies...

Happy Quilting, Janie
